Apple`s M1 Chip: All you need to know!

Innovative Technologies

If you own or have owned a computer before, you’re probably familiar with the term Intel Core and most of you chose to purchase a higher Core than the other. A core i3 over a dual-core, a Core i5 over a Core i3, and a Core i7 over a core i5.

Now have you ever wondered why you chose that or why you want a higher Core? What is Intel? Why does every computer have it?

Intel Corporation which is the largest manufacturer of computer chips supplies microprocessors to brands such as Apple, Lenovo, Samsung, and Toshiba.

Simply put, these microprocessors, your Core i3, and Core i7 are the brains of your computer. They determine how fast and powerful your computer performs the tasks you command it to.

Now Apple, being Apple, decided to do the most apple thing they could think of, that is to manufacture their own processor, the M1 Chip which rivals Intel Corporation`s microprocessors.

Many critiques have hailed the M1 as the fastest chip in the world knocking off Intel`s chips from the top.

During the Mac event, Apple described the M1 as a small chip but a giant leap for the computer and technology world.

They went on to say that the M1, their first computer chip is “…designed specifically for Mac, it delivers incredible performance, custom technologies, and revolutionary power efficiency. And it was designed from the very start to work with the most advanced desktop operating system in the world, macOS Big Sur. With a giant leap in performance per watt, every Mac with M1 is transformed into a completely different class of product. This isn’t an upgrade. It’s a breakthrough.”

The M1 chip will power Apple’s first Apple Silicon Macs which include the 13-inch MacBook Air, 13-inch MacBook Pro, and the new Mac mini.

Here is What the M1 Chip is bringing to the table
1. An entire system. On a single chip – which includes the processor, I/O, security, and memory.
2. Unified memory Shared across the entire system (UMA) – Faster video and image processing
3. Highest performance CPU (8 Core CPU) – faster and more efficient using the least power.
4. The world’s fastest integrated graphics in a personal computer
5. M1 extends battery life even while bringing a massive increase in performance – up to 20 hours of battery life.
6. OS Big Sur – An OS made for M1, down to its core.
