Weight Loss And Tech: What You Need To Know

Top Tips

Technology has taken over every facet of our lives. It’s hard to imagine what life was like before smartphones came right? The weight loss industry has not been spared from the tech frenzy. Even weight loss is now smart( witty intelligent) using gadgets like Fitbit that tracks your weight loss progress and your daily activities. Weight loss before tech was either via hours of cardio or through expensive trainers, expensive gym membership or expensive dieticians or a combination of all of the above.

We thank the universe because no one needs to pay an arm and a leg if they are determined to lose weight nowadays because tech has come to our rescue. The days of paying trainers a small fortune to dictate to you how you can exercise and eat must be replaced by days of studying your body type and needs on the internet. Joining groups on social media and learning from others until you reach your goals. Bottom line, no one has to part with money they don’t have to do expensive programs when they can do them on their own. Noone also needs to postpone their weight loss journey because they have no money to pay for expensive programs. All you need to lose weight is at your fingertips.

These are the 4 ways you can use tech to kickstart and perfect your weight loss journey.

1. Instagram

If you know me, you will know that I’m obsessed with Instagram. Why you may want to know, because it taught me more about weight loss than the rest of the internet. When I joined Instagram in 2016, I followed any weight loss page I could find. I learnt about the beauty of some of the exercises I hated and the dangers of constantly doing cardio ( running, jogging, cycling etc). This however left me confused as there were times when views conflicted. It took me time to find views that are similar on all pages and follow those only and I have never been disappointed since then. Using Instagram as your first port of call for weight loss, will help you find information and tips on what to eat and prepare the food to lose weight and keep your body at opium level. A serious weight loss program can be crafted using Instagram videos only if an individual is up for it. To get to see pages on Instagram here is what you can do

  1. Go to your Instagram account ( if you don’t have one create one here)
  2. Go to the search button and search using these keywords, fitness or exercise or weight loss or lose belly fat etc
  3. Browse through pages that seem to be active
  4. Follow a few pages you find interesting and Instagram will suggest a lot more for you based on what you have followed.

2.Weightloss Apps

Many of us may have downloaded and deleted these many times. However, to a committed fella, these things are tech gold as they help especially with High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) at home. I have so far learnt that cardio is good but weight lifting and HIIT are gooder (if there is such a word). I learnt that the more you do weight lifting and HIIT the more energy your body needs. There is a complex conversion of energy to power the intense workout in such a short time that makes your body keep burning fat even after you have stopped exercising just to restore the body to its normal level.

All this goodness can only be unmasked via Weightlifting and HIIT which you can do and home and save your self from paying so much money in subscriptions. The weightloss applications can help you do these exercises at home. So many apps can be found on the AppStore and Google Play store.

  1. Go to AppStore or Google Store
  2. Search using keywords like, fitness, weight loss, abs challenge, exercise, belly fat etc
  3. Check on app ratings and reviews before downloading
  4. Check on how it functions before pressing download.
  5. Download and see how it will help you with your weight loss goals

3. Weightloss Trackers

Weight loss gadgets are used to track the calories you have burnt, the calories you have ingested, in some instances, the hours you have slept etc. This information is vital to an individual after weight loss. Weight loss is achieved by ingesting or consuming fewer calories than you burn at any given day. These gadgets which are sometimes connected to an app at the end of the day may give you a report of how you performed during the day. The report can tell you how far you have deviated or how well you have done on your weight loss journey for that day. Ultimately weight loss is all about consistency. Gadgets like Fitbit and Honor Band can help you track your fitness journey. These gadgets can be ordered online and they can range from between $50 and $200.

4. YouTube

YouTube is an information mine when it comes to weight loss. It can tell you anything and everything you need to know about weight loss. However, YouTube is filled with conflicting accounts and diverging views that may confuse someone looking for weight loss tips. The only way to use YouTube effectively as a weight loss tool or port of call is if you listen to one weight loss coach. I for one only take guidance from one Dr Berg on YouTube. I have followed his intermittent fasting for a very long time since December 2018 and I can’t complain.
